Artist Statement & Biography “It is never too late to have a happy childhood and I have found mine in the playfulness of creating art.” After retirement Marilyn was able to pursue her life-long interest in art. She has since participated in numerous workshops with renown artists, Gerald Brommer, Dan Bert, Judi Betts, Tony Couch, Pat Dews, Anita Dieibel, Zito Kare, David Laughlin, Maxine Masterfield, Carol Dillard Stroud, Warren Taylor, M. Douglas Walton, Joyce McAdams and Gail Webb. She studied with Eureka Springs, AR. artist, Denise Ryan for 15 years. These workshops and classes have inspired Marilyn experiment with different media and techniques expanding her individual creativity and style. She is a member of the Harlingen Art Forum, Rockport Texas Art Gallery, Laguna Madre Art Association, Brownsville Art & Cultural Center and the Brownsville Museum of Fine Arts. Her paintings have been accepted in numerous juried art exhibits in Arkansas and Texas and she frequently has been given top awards in watercolor, mixed media and printmaking categories. Marilyn had the distinct honor of an invitation to participate in Dissolving Boundaries: South Texas Artists in North Mexico, Albertina Gallery, Matamoras, Mexico as well at Gallery 409 in Brownsville. Marilyn has conducted numerous classes and workshops in watercolor and creative and experimental art techniques over the past 15 years in the Rio Grande Valley.Marilyn’s paintings are among many private collections in the Southwest and Midwestern states
